Lian Li PC-Q06 ITX Test Bench in Red

E-mail Print
lian li pc-q06We have a brand new tech bench here at Pro-Clocks that is solely for testing ITX motherboards, and it comes in the form of the PC-Q06 from Lian Li. The Q06 is a semi-open test bench that right out of the box is meant for ITX motherboards, but it can also be expanded to larger ATX format with an optional tray. The Q06 has all the wow  factor like many of the other cases we've seen from Lian Li, and that is thanks to their high quality aluminum structures and superior styling.

Thermaltake Armor A60 Mid Tower

E-mail Print
armor a60The A60 offers features that even it's A90 big brother does not have, but we will only be talking about the A60 in this review. With external drive connectivity fast becoming a must-have amongst  the vast majority of individuals (instead of using a standard HDD dock like Cooler master has done with the CM 690 Advance), Thermaltake integrated a hot-swap bay into the A60. Even more unique is the location that Thermaltake chose, building the bay into the side of the case.

Coolermaster HAF X Full Tower

colermaster haf xLike the HAF 932, the HAF X displays the same rugged style that gamers have come to love. The industrial look even appealing to me as much as I love the fine tuned lines of the ATCS 840 is awesome to look at. Offering more than looks the HAF X has features that the HAF 932 can only dream of. How do two HDD docks sound? How about USB 3.0 in the front display? Or nine expansion slots in the rear of the case to support triple GPU cards? Yeah, all this and more is what the HAF X is about. Lets read on.

Thermaltake Armor A90 Tower

User Rating: / 2PoorBest
thermaltake armor a90The first Armour debuted way back in 2005. This year Thermaltake has released a new Armour with an entirely new style and look. The only thing the new Armour has in common with the older brethren is a hinged door on the front. That’s it, and the doors are totally different. The new model is called the A90, which is manufacturered as “Black “bulletproof” armor design with metal mesh elements”. Yes the unit is mesh and is painted black, but the whole bullet-proof thing is something to question. But bullet-proof or not, the new Armour A90 boasst a lot of new features that makes it a real looker.

aerocool qx2000But the latter of the companies I listed is at it again with a new small form factor case that looks to be aimed at the gamer in us. The Qx-2000 is said to be one of the best gaming SFF on the market says Aerocool. It brings good looks, good cooling and a dual level internal chambers for better heat separation. If all this is true the Qx-2000 is indeed posed to be a major player in the SFF era.

NZXT Gamma Classic Series Tower

E-mail Print

nzxt gammaNZXT dropped on my door step the Gamma case. This is one of their Classic Series black steel midtower cases. This is not a case that ships with all the bells and whistles, but instead provides you with the space to include them in pre-provided areas. This of course allows NZXT to provide you a case at an exceptional price while allowing you the opportunity to fine tune it to YOUR exact specifications. At first glance when you see the price you might be tempted to look away without giving the Gamma a read through. So we will wait to give you pricing information until you’ve had a chance to see this case up close.

User Rating: / 2PoorBest
Microcool Banchetto 101Microcool Banchetto 101 is one of the best looking open-air cases out there. When early pictures of the first proto-type surfaced, people began drooling over it. I saw a picture in on one of my favorite forums a couple of years ago. I knew I wanted to get my hands on one. Today, Fredrico and Kristi from Microcool have given me the opportunity. Fully assembled, the Banchetto is one elegant structure as it is comprised of thick acrylic sheets, aluminum and steel.

Charles Darwin's ecological experiment on Ascension isle

Thursday, 02 September 2010 10:24 Posted By Clinton

A lonely island in the middle of the South Atlantic conceals Charles Darwin's best-kept secret.

Two hundred years ago, Ascension Island was a barren volcanic edifice.

Today, its peaks are covered by lush tropical "cloud forest".

What happened in the interim is the amazing story of how the architect of evolution, Kew Gardens and the Royal Navy conspired to build a fully functioning, but totally artificial ecosystem.

Thomas Edison's plot to hijack the movie industry

Thursday, 02 September 2010 10:19 Posted By Clinton

It was a dark and stormy night on December 18, 1908. Okay—maybe it wasn't so dark and stormy. But it should have been, because that was the night Thomas Edison tried to hijack the motion picture industry.

"With his beetle brows, long wispy hair, and beatific look, Edison might have seemed the addled inventor," writes the historian Neil Gabler, "but he was a shrewd businessman and a fearsome adversary who was never loath to take credit for any invention, whether he was responsible or not."

Plan for nationwide free wireless broadband finally shot down

Thursday, 02 September 2010 10:18 Posted By Clinton
For four years the Federal Communications Commission tossed the idea  around like a beach ball: a coast-to-coast free wireless service across the low end of the 2GHz "AWS-3" band. The service would pay for itself via advertisements and by selling commercial access to various portions of the license area. The company that proposed the plan, M2Z Networks, would commit to building out the project in a decade, and pay five percent of its annual revenue to the United States Treasury.

Computer World: Eight great virtual appliances for VMware, free for the downloading

Wednesday, 01 September 2010 14:34 Posted By Clinton

Virtual appliances are great for the same reasons physical appliances took the IT world by storm: They make deployment a snap -- even instantaneous -- while at the same time reducing costs. It's a formula that made hardware-based appliances immensely popular for network security, backup, storage networking, file services, email, and many other single-focus solutions.

We live in a mobile world; if you have a laptop (and who doesn't?), that means constantly connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi. You most likely use Wi-Fi not just when you're on the road at cafés, airports or hotels, but to connect to your home network too. You might even connect to a wireless network at the office.
