Testing of the Prolimatech Megahalems

Over time, we've found that we have been able to get a better overclock on our i7 920 at a very respectable voltage of 1.4. We used this for the testing the Megahalems. During testing, we allow the system to sit idle for one hour and then measured the temperature. Afterward, we then loaded OCCT and ran a 30 minute bench session with priority set at high and recorded the temps at the end. Each core was recorded for more detailed performance stats.

Results

Not being really impressed by the idle I see that the Megahalems performed near the same levels of my lonely Coolermaster TX and identical to Noctua U12P we reviewed some time ago. But where the two higher end performed and showed their stuff is when a load was put on the CPU. Each outperformed the TX3 and the Megahalems edged out the Noctua by a degree or two depending on the core. We see why the everyone is raving over the Prolimatech cooler. As time goes on we will hold the Megahalems as the standard around here.
