Introduction to the Asrock P55 Extreme

The introduction of the Lynnfield processor from Intel brought a boat-load of motherboards based on the Intel P55 chipset. The first motherboard we tested was the Gigabyte EP55-UD6. It's a great motherboard with a lot to offer in the form of overclocking and ram slots. Not to be out done by anyone, we soon after received the Asrock P55 Extreme.

Asrock is known for making low cost motherboards using older chip sets and adding new and up-to-date features to them. Times have changed and Asrock is no longer known for these types of motherboards. Now on the launch dates of new chip sets, you will see at least two or three motherboards based on that chip set from Asrock.

The P55 Extreme is an example of Asrock's new vision on motherboard development. The P55 Extreme is the second highest model of the four motherboards from Asrock released on September 8th. The other three models are the Deluxe, Pro and M Pro which is their micro ATX version. The Extreme offers all the options and features that make Gigabyte, ASUS and MSI P55 the great motherboards they are: high quality capacitors, a well planned out overclocking BIOS and a beautifully layout. However, is it enough to warrant your hard earned money? We will see.
