Intel to end several more processors to make way for Sandy Bridge

It looks as if Intel will be dropping more of its 775 socket processors from their line-up. A couple of I-series are headed to the discontinued bin as well. The EOL models seems to mostly include the 45nm models that have seen little time on the market.

"Intel already issued product discontinuance notice (PDN) for its Core i7-975X earlier this quarter with end of lifecycle (EOL) to take place in the first quarter of 2011, while the Core i5-750 will see PDN in the first quarter of 2011 and EOL in the third quarter.

As for 45nm quad-core products, four processors including Core 2 Quad Q9650 already had PDN early this quarter, while five more processors including Core 2 Quad Q9300, 9505 and Q8400 will receive PDN in the third quarter.

For the dual-core, Core 2 Duo E8600 and E8500 will see PDN in the third quarter with Core 2 Duo E7500 and E7600 scheduled to have PDN in the second quarter and EOL in the fourth."
