Samsung Electronic plans to launch an Nvidia Ion platform-based netbook with Intel Atom N-series CPU and 11.6-inch display later in July, according to industry sources.

The new netbook will break Intel's restrictions on netbooks having a panel size of 10.2-inch or below, the sources noted.

In addition to Samsung, Lenovo also broke Intel's restrictions by launching a 12-inch Intel Atom N270-based netbook in June 2009, according to previous reports.

Intel has already canceled the two vendors' preferential pricing for Intel Atom N270 CPUs, the sources noted. DigiTimes
