Coolmax CUG-950B 950

Introduction

It isn’t that often that I go outside the ranks of the few brands of power supplies that I use in personal builds. This is because often I find something that works and works well I tend to stay with it. But once in a while a company will come alone that is new or new to me and make a product that is so worth trying. Coolmax has demonstrated just that scenario. I knew Coolmax was great at making enclosures and things of that natural but after trying one of their power supplies they are much more than enclosures.

I recently received the newest Coolmax power supply entitled CUG-950B.  The CUG-950B is near the top end of their power supply line next to the CUQ line. The CUG-950 is aimed at the gamer that want max frame rate from their video games. Being compatible of running multi-GPU systems the CUG-950 does it with good cooling and quietness. There isn’t much more you can ask from a power supply except for stability. But it is that stable? We will try and find out for you.

Words from Coolmax

The CUG-950 power supply gives your system the jolt and boost it needs to deliver the top experience for intense graphic rendered games. It delivers up to 2.8 times performance increase over a single graphics processing unit system, giving high-end gamers approximately 60 frames per second at resolutions as high as 2560x1600. With 950W, the CUG can power your system smoothly allowing gamers to obtain an uninterrupted experience with the best balanced power and cooling system and minimal noise level. The honeycomb structure of the power supply is also a highly efficient complimentary component to the cooling system allowing the unit to reach maximum heat dispersion.
