User Rating: / 3PoorBest

OCZ RevoDrive 3 240GBThe new RevoDrive 3 up the ante and operates on greater bandwidth x4 PCIe slots allowing for increased performance. This new model according to OCZ allows read/write times up to 1000MB/s and 925MB/s respectively and 130k IOPS depending on the size of the drive.  Numbers like this makes snails out of any SATA-based solid state drives. The RevoDrive 3 is available in three different sizes 120GB, 240GB and 480GB. We will be testing the 240GB model with 1000MB/s and 900MB/s read/write times.

Patriot WildfireLike many of the other drives we have tested, the Wildfire is also pushing the read and write times significantly above the 500MB/s mark. In order to do this the Wildfire has taken advantage of the SandForce SF-2281 processor, as well as some pretty fast Toshiba NAND memory. The Wildfire is currently on the market in three different sizes which would be 120GB, 240GB and 480GB. We've been sent the 120GB model so follow along as we see just how raging this Wildfire is.

Crucial M4 SATA 6GB/s Solid State Drive

E-mail Print

Crucial m4Crucial hit the pavement running when they released the C300 series of solid state drives, the first available for the (then) new SATA III 6Gb/s interface. Capable of reaching read/write speeds of 355MB/sec and 140MB/sec respectfully, the C300 was no slouch. Then at the beginning of 2011, when Intel finally launched a chipset with an integrated SATA III controller in their Cougar Point chipsets, many manufacturers felt it was time to let the new bus really stretch its legs. Crucial was one of those companies, releasing the M4 series of solid state drives. What kinds of improvements number wise does the new model have over the older model? Read on.

Beginning with the new Solid 3 series (value) and ending with the Vertex 3 (max performance). For those looking for a solution more in the middle we find the Agility 3, being had for a fair price but still packing a wallop in the performance department.. OCZ RevoDrive 50GB PCIe Solid State Drive

OCZ RevoDrive 50GBAnd yet, just when you think you have that new rig right where you want with drive performance, OCZ ups the ante once more; enter RevoDrive, stage left. The RevoDrive is one of the more recent additions to OCZ's SSD arsenal, but the RevoDrive is not your typical SSD. What makes it different is that they have dropped the SATA connector and 2.5" enclosure, in favor of utilizing PCIe slot and an open-board design. A little unusual? Perhaps, but the performance numbers will no doubt remove any ill conceived notions you may have.  UPDATE: Corrected SLC/MLC info; all RevoDrives utilize the MLC chips.
